Bibi Reviews: 'Strada vs Prezzo...'

Somehow within a week of each other I managed to go to both Strada and Prezzo, both of which are Italian restaurants. So it made perfect sense to combine them both in one review. Especially as I had the same thing in both places!

When we went to Strada I  knew exactly what I wanted - a big bowl of warm pasta. So I immediately chose the 'Penne Arabiata'. Pasta in a spicy tomato sauce. I was really looking forward to it, yet I have to say I was extremely disappointed with what turned up. It wasn't as such how it looked but how it tasted. I was hoping for lots of sauce completely covering the pasta but there was very little sauce that was not at all spicy or flavoursome. If I'm honest I probably could have made it better myself. However when we went to Prezzo I again chose the 'Penne Arabiata' (boring I know)! And I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The sauce was thicker and there was lots of it! It was full of tomato and chili. It was absolutely delicious.

We also ordered a house salad at both restaurants and as far as salads go they were both nice. A few lettuce leaves, tomatoes, olives, onions and even green beans. Theres not much to say about them but they did go very nicely with my pasta  and added a bit of greenery to the plate. As far as dressings are concerned I again preferred the one in Prezzo it wasn't to creamy but it was sharp and acidic and really complimented the salad.

In Strada my Mum ordered the 'Rissoto Verdure' lots of green vegetables with risotto rice. She said she enjoyed it and that it was very nice. My youngest sister ordered from the kids menu which came with a choice of starters a main and a desert. She had vegetable sticks with a salsa and then pasta and tomato sauce. I tried some of this and it was actually much nicer than mine. It was full of flavour and actually very enjoyable. However there wasn't enough to full her up so she ended up finishing mine

In Prezzo my other sister ordered a margarita pizza. I was tempted by a pizza as the looked absolutely amazing and they tasted pretty good too! I think it could have done with a bit more sauce but other than that you cant really go wrong with pizza! My dad ordered a 'Florentina' Pizza which was spinach, egg, cheese, olives, mozzarella and tomato. He said it was really good and the egg on top made it feel like a proper meal. My youngest sister didn't order from the kids menu this time, and instead had spaghetti bolognese. Again she really enjoyed it and managed to eat most of it!

As for desert I didn't get anything but my sisters did. Lemon sorbet and chocolate fondant in Strada and chocolate cake and profiteroles in Prezzo. Both enjoyed both puddings but Strada for them were the best.

Overall the atmosphere in Strada was not great. It was a very big restaurant with very few people inside. However we did have a good old laugh at the music towards the end. In Prezzo although we were the only ones in there at the beginning, it soon began to fill up with family and couples and ended up having a really nice feel to it.

Out of the two I would definitely have to say I preferred my meal in Prezzo to Strada. But that's not to say you shouldn't try it out because everybody opinions different!
